The painting Night Sermon showed me a new way into the world of the very small and the very large. How different perspectives merge and become greater than its parts, how the tiny limbs of the living things stretched and moved, and how they reacted to the light in this dark place.
The knowledge of the hand and of the eye, is hard to describe other than through the painting itself. How we learn about the world by studying the way it looks, feels, smells, sounds - the sensuous world.
