Tree Dweller

I am fascinated by lichens and moss, and the worlds they build. In this painting I have worked slowly, like they do, taking care that the colours fall in the right place, that the paint has the quality I want, and that the brush stroke sits the way it needs to. The pauses in the painting are as valuable as the time spent putting paint on the canvas. Painting this way takes a long time, and I have to constantly check myself not to rush. Satisfying and exasperating.
