The Bitumen Paintings, 2011-2015
The bitumen paintings was a project where I examined how the extraction of oil sands in Alberta, Canada, and crude oil extraction along the Orinoco, impacted on the landscape. I also looked at the Norwegian oil industry on the west coast of Norway. The landscapes were painted with bitumen ,a crude oil derivative, together with acidic acrylic colours.
